AUBURN, Ala. – Senior Ava Stearns of the No. 3 Auburn equestrian team was named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association's Fence Rider of the Month for November, the league office announced Wednesday.
Stearns put together a 3-0-0 record in Fences with two Most Outstanding Performer honors for the Tigers, helping the squad take three wins overall. That included two wins over Southeastern Conference opponents.
In addition, she helped Auburn go 12-3-0 overall in the event in November.
The Chilmark, Massachusetts product kicked off the month with an 89-79 victory at nationally ranked South Carolina (Nov. 4). The 10-point win secured her first MOP honor of the month.
Stearns followed with an 86-84 edge against her Texas A&M opponent (Nov. 11). She capped the fall season with another 86-84 win, securing MOP against defending national champion Oklahoma State. Her performance guided the Tigers to a sweep of the Cowgirls in Fences.
The monthly honor is the third of her career and the first of the season.
