It's time to meet the Auburn equestrian freshman class as we bring you Q&As with the newcomers.
Up next is Holland Barnett! Holland is a Jumping Seat rider originally from Lexington, Kentucky and is a pre-business major.
Q: Why Auburn?
A: "When I first came to Auburn for a campus visit, it immediately felt like home. The campus is so pretty, and it is very compact, which is very lovely. When I visited the Auburn University Equestrian Center for the first time, being there felt right."
What is your major and what do you hope to do with it after college?
"I am a business major here at Auburn. I hope to run a business and make it successful."
What is your favorite Auburn tradition so far?
"My favorite tradition so far at Auburn is the football games when they let the eagle fly and singing the fight songs."
What are you most excited about this season?
"I am most excited to go to Ocala, Florida for the national championship. It will be a really exciting time and I can't wait."
How are you managing being on the equestrian team and your class load?
"Being on the team and managing my classes is sometimes difficult, but I try to manage my time and work on my studies. SADC is a life saver because there are bunch of study tools to help me with my classes."
What is your favorite thing to do in Auburn?
"My favorite thing to do at Auburn is spending time with my teammates and getting to see them every day at practice."
What was your favorite class you took this past semester?
"My favorite class I took this past semester was University Success Strategies because it helped me become a better college student. This class gave me tips and tricks to be able to make my time here at Auburn better."
What horse is your favorite to ride for Auburn?
"My favorite horse to ride here at Auburn is Nonstop. He is such a good horse, and he is a horse that knows what he is doing and helps me learn."
What is your favorite memory with the equestrian team thus far?
"My favorite memory thus far is going to a team dinner and playing putt putt. It was a very fun night hanging out with my teammates."
What does 'War Eagle' mean to you?
"'War Eagle is something that I say all the time. I say it in many situations when something is exciting. It's fun saying it to people!"
Since you are from Lexington, how many Kentucky Derbies have you attended?
"I have actually never attended a Kentucky Derby! I normally just watch it on TV with my friends back at home. My parents go every year though!"
What is your favorite thing to do back home?
"My favorite thing to do back home is to go ride at my barn and get to see my riding buddies. I look forward to seeing them every time I go home and ride.
What is at the top of your bucket list and why?
"I think going sky diving is at the top of my bucket list. I always see videos of people doing it and it just looks so much fun!"
