AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 5 Auburn gymnastics team is set to kick off the 2023 season in January and it's time to get to know the newcomers. Our final freshman is Hailey John!

Q: Why Auburn?
A: "I chose Auburn University because once I was on campus it felt like home. The Auburn gymnastics program is excellent, and the coaches made me feel so welcome. The tight knit community and traditions of Auburn are amazing, and the Auburn Creed is everything I believe in."
What is your major and what do you hope to do with it?
"My current major is pre-engineering and I want to go into mechanical. I also plan to pursue my MBA with aspirations of working for a major Fortune 500 company."
What does your typical day during the semester look like?
"A typical day for me includes breakfast, classes, lunch, practice, dinner, and study hall. My day winds down by hanging with friends."
What is your favorite event and why?
"My favorite event has always been beam because I find it to be the most challenging but also rewarding. It involves both physical and mental preparation."
What are you looking forward to the most here at Auburn?
"While on the Plains, I am most looking forward to being a part of both Auburn gymnastics and the Auburn Family, while developing life-long friendships and gaining the education I need to be successful in life."
How did you get involved in gymnastics?
"I got involved in gymnastics at an early age. I had a lot of energy and gymnastics offered a competitive outlet."
What is your favorite TV show?
"My favorite TV shows are The Office and Friends."
What was your favorite class this semester and why?
"My favorite class this first semester was Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry because I enjoy math and solving problems because it's almost like a puzzle!"
What do you like to do on a free weekend?
"During a free weekend, I enjoy spending time with friends. I also enjoy shopping and reading."
What is your favorite home-cooked meal?
"My favorite home-cooked meal is grilled chicken, broccoli, and mac and cheese."
