Redshirt freshman Jackson Ross was recognized Thursday as a member of the 2022 SEC Community Service Team in men's tennis, recognizing the accomplishments of outstanding student-athletes beyond the field of competition.
Ross represents his men's tennis teammates on Auburn's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and he was a project leader in December for that group in its Angel Tree project, shopping for gifts for underprivileged children. SAAC also coordinates the downtown Trunk or Treat, Beat Bama food drive and student-athlete enrichment events on campus. He has been involved with outreach to local elementary schools and Kids Days at tennis.
Ross also participated in a food drive in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, and while playing in tournaments throughout South and Central America, he takes clothes to donate to kids playing at the local tennis clubs.
On the court, Ross is 10-5 in singles for the No. 28 Tigers, and is 3-2 in doubles play this season.
Others on the 2022 team include Joshua Bortnick (Arkansas), Alberto Colas (Mississippi State), Will Grant (Florida), Simon Junk (Ole Miss), Patrick Kaukovalta (Alabama), Tristan McCormick (Georgia), Johannus Monday (Tennessee), Carter Morgan (South Carolina), Connor Robb-Wilcox (Vanderbilt), Tate Sandman (Kentucky), Kenner Taylor (Texas A&M) and Nick Watson (LSU).
All league-sponsored sports have recognized a Community Service Team since 2004, with at-large teams for men's and women's sports being chosen from 1999-2003.
