By the time he left Auburn, Jay Waggoner wasn't just the all time hits leader for the Tigers, he led the SEC! His biggest scholarship offer out of powerhouse Vestavia Hills High School came from UAB, but he dreamed of playing for Auburn. When the offer finally came, he committed on the spot.
Consider the head coaches he played for -- Sammie Dunn at Vestavia Hills and Hal Baird at Auburn. Both are Hall of Famers. Jay played on the 1994 College World Series team and finished his career in 1995. A season when Auburn was ranked No. 1 in the country.
