AUBURN, Ala. – The Auburn cross country team returns to action Friday as it travels to Huntsville, Ala. to compete in the North Alabama Showcase. The meet will be held at John Hunt Cross Country Course with the men's 8k race beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT and the women's 5k race beginning at 8:15 a.m. CT. The venue will be the site of this year's NCAA Regional meet later this season.

Tigers Head Coach Aaron Kindt is excited to get the whole squad together and see where the team stacks up early on this season.

"We came off of JSU and got the rest of our group back with us," said Kindt. "We rested some of our older runners and got them a little extra training that week so putting them back in the fold and now really starting to build towards the meat of our season, starting to lock down some of these workouts and I thought this group did a really good job this past week putting a really good week of training in."

A total of 20 Tigers, 11 men and 9 women, are set to toe the line with 44 other universities at the meet.

Coming off a strong start, with a second-place team finish at the JSU Invitational, the Auburn men look to keep their momentum rolling into Huntsville. Lining up will be juniors Carson Bedics and Ryan Kinnane, sophomores Benson Atkins, Cooper Atkins, Mark Foster, and Louis O'Loughlin and freshmen Isaiah Billingsly, Joseph Perry, Ethan Snyder, and Trey Hurt.

For the Auburn women, senior Hannah Tarwater, Junior Samantha Rogers, sophomores Hallie Porterfield and Hannah Thuss and freshmen Gene Coetzee, Breckin Gould, Kali Holden, and Hailey Marston return to competition after taking home the top spot in the Foothills Invitational.

Alongside Auburn, the other schools competing will be SEC rivals in Alabama, UGA, UK, Mississippi State, as well as Georgia Tech, Eastern Kentucky, among others.
