INDIAN WELLS, Calif. - During day two of the Duel in the Desert at Indian Wells, Auburn claimed five singles victories as well as a doubles victory over Texas Tech in route to a team win. Freshman Kaitlyn Carnicella tallied her eleventh singles victory of the 2022-23 season against Cristina Tiglea. Ali DeSpain secured her first singles victory as an Auburn Tiger on Saturday over Yekaterina Dmitrichenko while Adeline Flach, Carolyn Ansari and Anastasia Astakhova also tallied singles victories for the Tigers.
Ariana Arseneault and Angella Okutoyi remained perfect in doubles play during the tournament as they defeated the Texas Tech duo of Avelina Sayfetdinova and Metka Komac by a 6-3 score.
"We exhibited incredible poise and composure throughout our matches this afternoon," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said after her team's strong performance on Saturday. "The details make a big difference, and choosing to be professional and navigate adversity only makes us stronger. The way we fight with, and for, one another is a testament to how unshakable a unit this team is."
Auburn will finish up their stay on the West Coast on Sunday against host school Kansas beginning at 12:45 p.m. CT at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. The match results will be posted at the conclusion of play each day on AuburnTigers.com.
