KAILUA-KONA, Hawai'i – No. 2 Auburn men's golf dropped a 3-2 match play decision to Washington Friday at Kahanaiki Golf and Ocean Club.

The matchup was created to accommodate for the cancelation of the Amer Ari Invitational and will count toward official NCAA rankings.

"It's unfortunate that our week did not go as planned, but the weather is just one of those things that you cannot control," Tigers head coach Nick Clinard said. "The operations staff at Amer Ari was wonderful and did all that they could to accommodate each of us to the best of their ability.

"We appreciate coach Murray at Washington for working with us to get in some quality holes of match play this afternoon. Hats off to their squad, they got the best of us today, but we're leaving here learning a lot and we're looking forward to attacking our next challenge head-on."

Auburn's two victories came by way of junior Carson Bacha, who bested the Huskies' Teddy Lin 3&2, and sophomore Evan Vo, who topped Aidan O'Hagan 3&1. The duo's career records in match play move to 3-3 and 2-0, respectively.

Senior Alex Vogelsong dropped his bout 2-down while junior J.M. Butler lost 3&2 and sophomore Brendan Valdes fell 4&2.

Auburn returns to stroke-play competition Sunday, Feb. 26 at the Dorado Beach Collegiate.
