ALBANY, Bahamas – Auburn is currently sitting in second place after shooting 302 (+14) on Tuesday in the second round of the Nexus Collegiate. The Tigers will now head into the final round on Wednesday fourteen shots behind the leader, Wake Forest.
"We're going to take what we learned today and apply it to tomorrow," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "We need to improve our course management and have a strong focus on commitment on every single shot during the final round."
Albany Golf Course played pretty difficult for the team today, but junior Anna Foster moved up to a tie for third place individually through 36-holes. Foster carded five birdies on Tuesday en route to a 1-under 71, which gave her a two-day total of 143 (-1). She is just three shots behind the tournament's individual leader, Latanna Stone of LSU, who is at 4-under (140).
Redshirt freshman Carys Worby fired a 76 (+4) on Tuesday which places her inside the top 10 in a tie for eighth place individually at 3-over (147). Megan Schofill shot a 77 (+5) in her second round, giving her a two-round total of 149 (+5) which is good for a tie of 16th place.
The final score for Auburn came from freshman Katie Cranston, who carded a 6-over 78 on Tuesday which puts her in a tie for 21st with a two-day total of 151 (+6). Sophie Anand continues to lead all individuals in the event, as she mirrored Monday's 4-over 76 with another one today. Anand's 36-hole total of 152 (+8) is good for a tie for 25th on the leaderboard.
As a team, the Tigers still have a two shot advantage on conference rival LSU, who is ranked ninth in the country by GolfStat, as well as Arizona State, who is 13th in the nation according to both GolfStat and Golfweek.
Auburn's team participants will be playing in foursomes in Wednesday's final round with players from Wake Forest, Arizona State and LSU. The final round will be a shotgun start at 6:45 a.m. CT. Live scoring of the round will be available on Golfstat.com as well as the GolfStat mobile app.
