AUBURN, Ala. – For the third consecutive year, Auburn senior Megan Schofill has received an invitation to compete in the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur in Augusta, Georgia.
The tournament, which began in 2019, was established to inspire greater interest and participation in the women's game by creating a new, exciting, and rewarding pathway for players to fulfil their dreams.
This year's invitation to Schofill became the seventh sent to an Auburn Tiger. Kaleigh Telfer received an invitation in the event's inaugural year in 2019, Telfer, Schofill and Julie McCarthy each received an invitation in 2021, while Schofill and Mychael O'Berry got an invite to last year's tournament.
The field consists of 72 women amateurs from around the world taking part in a 54-hole event. The first 36 holes of the event are played on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta on March 29th and March 30th. After all participants get to play an official practice round at Augusta National Golf Club on March 31st, the leading 30 players will play the final round at historic Augusta National on April 1st.
The champion of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will receive an invitational to the next five Augusta National Women's Amateurs, the 2023 U.S. Women's Open, the 2023 Women's Open, as well as any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year.
For the first time, Golf Channel will provide coverage of the first and second rounds of the tournament from 12:30-2:30 p.m. CT. NBC Sports will produce and broadcast coverage of the final round from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
