MELBOURNE, Fla. – Auburn made a move up on the leaderboard during the second round of the Moon Golf Invitational on Monday, as the Tigers posted a team score of 278 (-10) and is now in second place out of 17 teams. Auburn freshman Katie Cranston carded the best round in the field on Monday with a 7-under 65.

"What a breakout round for Katie Cranston!" said a pleased Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen after the second round. "She shot 65 and made it look very easy. I'm especially proud of Casey [Weidenfeld] for her ability to come back after making a bogey and a double bogey on the front nine and then really digging deep to finish strong. The eagle putt on the last was celebrated with big fist pump!"

In just her fifth collegiate round, Cranston recorded seven birdies and remained bogey-free to tie the lowest round of the tournament and claim the lowest round of the day.

"I was really consistent out there today, everything was working pretty well and I stayed patient all day," Cranston said after the round. "I had a strong start, then I made a few really good par saves on the back nine to keep my momentum going."

After making the turn at 1-over, redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld went 5-under on the back nine highlighted by an eagle on No. 18 to record a second round 68 (-4). She moved up 27 spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 13th place individually at 140 (-4) over 36-holes.

Junior Anna Foster remained inside the top 10 on Monday after firing a 72 (E) in a round that included two birdies on the front nine to remain at 5-under (139) through two rounds and is in a tie for eighth individually. Senior Megan Schofill carded a 73 (+1) with a birdie on the final hole which gives her a two-round total of 144 (E) and puts her in a tie for 38th individually.

In Tuesday's final round, Auburn's team participants will get to play in the final grouping alongside players from LSU, UCF and Northwestern. The Tigers are currently nine shots behind the leader, LSU, and has a two stroke advantage over both UCF and Northwestern.

"Tomorrow will be a great experience for the team to play in the final pairing," said Coach Luellen. "We have more than a few shots to make up, but I know this team has the ability to go low and make a run at the title."
