Derrian Gobourne named AAI Award nominee

AUBURN, Ala. – Fifth year Derrian Gobourne of the Auburn gymnastics team was named a nominee for the AAI Award, presented to the nation's most outstanding senior.
 
The AAI Award is widely considered the Heisman Trophy of women's gymnastics. AAI has been awarding this honor for more than 30 years. NCAA head coach were asked to submit a nomination for the candidate or candidates of their choice. After the initial nominations, the field will be narrowed to the top six student-athletes.
 
Gobourne is one of 39 nominees for the award this year.
 
The Sarasota, Florida native is a six-time All-American for the Tigers as well as the 2021 and 2022 SEC Co-Specialist of the Year. She became Auburn's first national champion in 2019, winning a share of the vault title and she was national runner-up in 2022 on bars and floor.
 
Gobourne is a four-time All-SEC performer and will finish her career as on of Auburn's top scorers on vault, bars and floor.
