BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ike Irish has been named the Southeastern Conference Co-Freshman of the Week coming off a stellar performance in his first weekend in an Auburn uniform, the league office announced Monday.

A true freshman from Hudsonville, Mich., Irish started as the designated hitter and hit out of the three hole in all three games against Indiana. He recorded a hit and a double in all three contests, including multiple hits in two of three against the Hoosiers, and finished the weekend 6-for-12 with three runs, three doubles and three RBI as Auburn took two of three from Indiana.

Irish legged out an infield single in his first career at-bat and finished his Auburn debut 3-for-5 with two runs, a double and a RBI. Less than 24 hours later, he picked up where he left off by getting the scoring started with a two-RBI double in the third inning of game two, ultimately reaching base three times for the second straight game to start his career. Irish then capped off the weekend by going 2-for-4 with a double and a run in the finale.

Irish and the No. 17 Tigers (2-1) hit the road for the first time this season Tuesday, traveling to Madison, Ala., to take on North Alabama (1-2) at 6 p.m. CT at Toyota Field.
