Trio of Tigers earn SEC Track & Field honorsTrio of Tigers earn SEC Track & Field honors

AUBURN, Ala. – Following successful performances at last week's Southeastern Conference Championships, Auburn sophomore Favour Ashe was names to the All-SEC First Team and seniors Kyle Brown and Madi Malone were named to the All-SEC Second Team.

"I'm really excited the have three athletes earn All SEC Honors," Tigers head coach Lery Burrell said. "Kyle and Madi, Favour have really just picked up where they left of last year and it's telling that two (Kyle and Madi) were selected to be team captains but all three of them are such great athletes and fierce competitors that we're fortunate to have them here at Auburn."
In his first conference meet in an Auburn uniform, Ashe ran 6.52 en route to winning gold in the men's 60m dash. The Nigerian native recorded the second fastest 60m dash time in school history while becoming the eighth fastest man ever at Auburn to win the event at the conference meet, the first since Dante Brown in 2021. Ashe's time was also the fastest ran at the meet world champion Christian Coleman of Tennessee who recorded the same time in 2017.

In her final indoor conference championship, four-time All-American Malone took home the bronze medal in the women's weight throw with a season-best mark of 22.71m/74-6.25. Malone closed out her indoor SEC career just as she started it, on the podium. The Wichita, Kansas native won the silver medal at the 2019 indoor SEC Championships where she broke the then Auburn and Auburn freshman record in the weight throw with a throw of 22.11m/72-6.5.

"Coach [Pat] Ebel had a clear goal for us and that was to score more points that we were scheduled to get," Malone said. "I came into the meet ranked fourth and I finished third so to catch that third place was really nice for my last indoor SECs."

For the second year in a row, Brown earned a bronze medal in the men's weight throw with a career-best toss of 22.24m/72-11.75 on his third of six attempts. Brown became the first Tiger to post back-to-back podium efforts in the event since Jacob Dunkleberger in 2007 and 2008.

"I think we had a clear set goal coming into this meet that Coach Ebel and I talked about," Brown said. "Really just come out, have a good opener and just build off that and just compete and have fun with it."

The All-SEC first team consists of the top finishers in each event, while the second team consists of the second and third place finishers in each event. Ties are not broken.
