No. 3 Auburn opens spring season at No. 4 Texas A&M

AUBURN, Ala. – The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team is ready to kick of the second half of the 2022-23 season and will travel to No. 4 Texas A&M for a Southeastern Conference contest.
 
The Tigers (6-1, 3-0 SEC) and the Aggies will face off on Saturday, February 4 at 1 p.m. CT at the Hildebrand Equine Complex in Bryan-College Station.
 
"We're eager to get back to competition," head coach Greg Williams said. "We finished the fall with momentum and are hoping to get it back going again this weekend. Texas A&M is tough to face at their place, but we're riding really well right now so we're looking forward to seeing where we are."
 
AUBURN LINEUP AT TEXAS A&M
The Auburn lineup will look similar to how the team finished last semester, having one fifth year, three seniors, five juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen.
 
The Jumping Seat corps saw big performances from its lineup all last semester and the group looks to build off of its success heading into the spring.
 
Senior Ava Stearns and junior Ellie Ferrigno lead the charge as both are 7-0-0 in Fences. Fifth year Emma Kurtz and sophomore Sophee Steckbeck each have five wins in the event, while sophomore Mary-Grace Segars has four.
 
The five riders will also compete in Flat with Segars have a team-best 6-1-0 record in the event. Kurtz and Steckbeck also have five wins apiece in Flat, while Stearns has three and Ferrigno has two.
 
Horsemanship squad has been led by senior Maddie Spak this season as she's a perfect 7-0-0 on the year. Freshman Alexia Tordoff is second on the squad with five wins. Senior Olivia Tordoff, junior Madison Parduhn and freshman Caroline Fredenburg all have four wins each.
 
Four Tigers in juniors Kate Buchanan and Isabella Tesmer are poised to lead the team in Reining as the pair each four victories on the year.
 
Joining the pair in the event will be Alexia Tordoff, Olivia Marino and Caroline Buchanan. Tordoff is third on the squad with three wins.
 
AUBURN-TEXAS A&M SERIES
Auburn leads the all-time series, 26-7, against the Aggies and have won 12 of the last 13 meetings. All seven of the Aggie wins have come in Bryan-College Station.
 
The two teams last met in the fall as the Tigers hosted the Aggies at the Auburn University Equestrian Center, Nov. 11. Auburn won the meet, 10-6, and the Flat corps picked up a sweep in the event.

Auburn returns to the Plains for another SEC match up, hosting rival Georgia at the Auburn University Equestrian Center. The two teams will face off on February 18 at 11 a.m. CT.
