LUBBOCK, Texas – The Auburn women's tennis team is set to face their first dual road match of the season this Sunday against Texas Tech in Lubbock.

The Tigers took advantage of the opportunity to play their first five dual matches at home, going 4-1 with ranked wins over No. 22 Iowa State and No. 23 UCF and the only loss being to No. 2 North Carolina.

Auburn freshman Kaitlyn Carnicella has already claimed SEC freshman of the week honors twice in her first two weeks of dual matches on the Plains as she will enter Sunday's match with four consecutive singles wins. Freshman Angella Okutoyi and junior Adeline Flach have both had hot starts to their 2023 campaigns, as each of them hold a 3-1 singles record featuring two singles wins in a row heading into Sunday's match.

Texas Tech comes into the match sporting a 4-1 record, with their most recent match being a 4-0 road loss to No. 17 Oklahoma during ITA Kickoff Weekend. Sophomore Avelina Sayfetdinova has gotten off to an impressive start for the Red Raiders, as she has posted a perfect 4-0 dual record in singles play.

Auburn has already seen Texas Tech this spring when the two faced off in a hidden dual event at the Dual in the Desert. In that event against Texas Tech, the Tigers claimed five of the seven singles matches played as well as one of the three doubles matches. Auburn will look to continue that success on Sunday.

The match is scheduled to begin on Sunday at 11:00 a.m. CT at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock. Weather permitting, the match is expected to be played outdoors. Live video of the match will be available here and live stats will be available here.
