HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Auburn women's golf remains in third place as a team after the second round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate at Long Cove Club after Tuesday's second round. Senior Megan Schofill will be in contention for the individual win during the final round on Wednesday, as she currently sits in second place at 2-under (140).

"We're going to put today behind us and get rested up for tomorrow," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "We know a lot can change quickly in team play and we are looking forward to playing in the final pairing."

Schofill recorded four birdies in her second round, with two of them coming off close approaches on holes 10 and 13. But six bogeys resulted in a 73 (+2) being posted for the senior's second round. Schofill's 36-hole total of 140 (-2) places her in second place before Wednesday's final round and two strokes back of leader Mathilde Claisse of South Carolina. Schofill continues to lead the field in birdies, as she has recorded 10 in the last two days.

"It's a tough golf course so you know that you're going to make bogeys, but I hung in there and tried to minimize the mistakes that I was making," Schofill said after the round. "I wasn't hitting it as well as I was yesterday but I felt like I left a few shots out there so I'm hoping to go into tomorrow with a better game."

Freshman Katie Cranston bounced back from a difficult day on Monday by leading the team with an even-par 71 on Tuesday. Her two-round total of 149 (+7) places her in a tie for 44th on the leaderboard.

Redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld continued her consistent play, as she replicated her score from the first round with another 1-over 72 in round two. Weidenfeld's round featured three birdies on the front nine. The Pembroke Pines, Florida native is currently in a tie for 14th individually and six shots behind the tournament leader.

Juniors Elina Sinz and Anna Foster both carded a 5-over 76 during the second round. Sinz moved down to a tie for 35th and Foster is currently in a tie for 54th.

As a team, Auburn has played the Long Cove Club's par-threes at 2-under and leads the field in par-3 scoring for the tournament. The Tigers are leading four of the top 10 teams in the most recent Golfweek team rankings: No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 Oregon, No. 9 Texas, and No. 10 Arizona State.

Auburn will be a part of the final pairing for the third round of the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate alongside players from South Carolina and LSU beginning at 10:10 a.m. CT. Live television coverage of the event will air from 1:30 p.m. CT to 4:30 p.m. CT on Golf Channel and live scoring will be available on Golfstat.com and the GolfStat mobile app.
