BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  After a hot start to his collegiate career, Auburn men's golf freshman Reed Lotter was named SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Lotter was rewarded for his performance at both The Prestige Individual and the Dorado Beach Collegiate the past week. With the first SEC weekly honor of his career, Lotter becomes the 12th different Tiger freshman to earn the award since its creation in 2014.

At The Prestige Individual, Lotter carded a 5-under 67 in the first 18 holes of his career in the Orange & Blue, marking the best start by a freshman in program history since Jake Mondy in 2012. Lotter ended the event in seventh overall with a 217 (+1) as one of only four true freshmen to finish in the top 10 and as the highest-placing golfer from the SEC, regardless of class.

A few days later, at the Dorado Beach Collegiate, Lotter fired an 8-under 206 by way of a 68-68-72 outing to finish inside the top-15 for a second consecutive tournament. Through the first six rounds of his career, the Savannah, Georgia native has carded five at or below par, including four in the 60s.

Lotter and company return to action next week as Auburn hosts the 11th annual Tiger Invitational March 5-7 at Grand National in Opelika, Alabama.
