AUBURN, Ala. – Two members of the No. 2 Auburn equestrian team were awarded Rider of the Month honors for their performances in March from the Southeastern Conference.
 
Juniors Ellie Ferrigno and Olivia Marino were recognized for their performances against No. 7 South Carolina on March 3.
 
Ferrigno picked up SEC Co-Rider of the Month in Flat after going 1-0-0 in the event in March. The Newtown, Connecticut product had a great final meet of the regular season, topping her opponent by eight points.
 
Ferrigno scored an 88 in her win to best South Carolina's 80 to win MOP. It was her first MOP of the season and the 88 was her second highest score of the year in the event.
 
The honor is Ferrigno's first in Flat and it adds to her SEC Fences Rider of the Month won in November.
 
Marino earned SEC Co-Rider of the Month in Reining, earning the first monthly award of her career.
 
The Birmingham, Alabama native earned MOP in the event against South Carolina. She was the final ride in the event and needed to top her opponent's 70. Marino rode to a 71.5 to take the win for the Tigers, scoring her second highest score of the season.
 
Her MOP win was the first of her career and with her score of 71.5, she has scored a 70 or better in all but two meets this year.
 
Up next for the Tigers is the postseason as the squad will travel to Blythewood, South Carolina for the 2023 Southeastern Conference Championship. The two-day meet will be held March 24-25 at One Wood Farm and the championship is being hosted by South Carolina. Auburn is the No. 1 seed in this year's conference meet and will take on the host Gamecocks at 8 a.m. CT on March 24.
