HILTON HEAD, S.C. – Auburn women's golf finished third in a competitive field of 17 teams at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Wednesday. The finish marks the sixth consecutive top five team finish for the Tigers.

"We beat a lot of teams ranked ahead of us so it was a good showing and a complete team effort," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the final round. "Really happy for Anna [Foster] as she deserved a good round after some crazy breaks in round two."

The Tigers shot a final round 289 (+5) for a 54-hole team score of 14-over (866). Auburn finished ahead of 14 teams ranked in the Golfweek top 50 including No. 2 Wake Forest, No. 3 Oregon, No. 9 Texas and No. 10 Arizona State. The Orange and Blue led the field in team par-3 scoring and tied for the lead in team par-5 scoring, as the team played both at 2-under.

Junior Anna Foster ended her tournament on a high note after struggling in round two. Foster led the Tigers with a 2-under 69 in a round that featured four birdies on the card. Individually, Foster rose 31 spots on the leaderboard from where she started the day to finish in a tie for 23rd at 6-over (219). The Dublin, Ireland native also tied for the lead of the field in par-3 scoring at 3-under.

Redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld carded a final round 73 (+2) to finish the event at 4-over (217) and in a tie for 16th place. Senior Megan Schofill finished the tournament with a 216 (+3) and in a tie for 13th place after shooting a 76 (+5) in her final round. This marks the sixth top-20 individual finish of the season for Schofill and the fourth for Weidenfeld.

Junior Elina Sinz played her front nine at 1-under thanks to two birdies and finished at 2-over (73). Her 54-hole total of 221 (+8) landed her in a tie for 40th individually. Freshman Katie Cranston fired a 74 in her final round (74) which gave her a three-round score of 10-over (223) and a tie for 49th on the leaderboard.

After playing three tournaments in three weeks, Auburn will get a much longer break before playing in the Liz Murphy Classic hosted by the University of Georgia in Athens beginning on March 24th.

"After playing three in a row, each of our players are very clear in what they need to work on," said Coach Luellen. "First priority is to get some rest!"
