ATHENS, Ga. – Women's golf holds the team lead through two rounds of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Georgia. The Tigers recorded a team score of 286 (-2) on Saturday for a 36-hole total of 563 (-13) and leads second-place South Carolina by 11 strokes. Auburn junior Elina Sinz is the tournament's individual leader at 5-under par (139).

"Very proud of this team, it was a grind out there today," Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said after the round. "With the morning rain, the course played longer and there were some though hole locations. A strong finish was key. With inclement weather in the forecast tomorrow, the course will play sloppy, but we will be prepared."

As a team, the Tigers have played the UGA Golf Course's par-fives at an incredible 14-under par, which is the best of any team in the field. They also lead the field in par-three scoring and par-four scoring as well as in total birdies with 38.

Sinz, who held a tie for the lead after posting an opening round 69 (-3) on Friday, followed up with a second round 2-under 70. The Katy, Texas native finished Saturday's round strong by recording back-to-back birdies on her final two holes of the day to grab the 36-hole individual lead by one shot.

"My putting and ball striking have been really solid the last two days," Sinz said after the round. "I've just been focusing on staying present and being really confident in my decision making. Tomorrow will be the same deal, just playing my own game and sticking to my plan."

Senior Megan Schofill was just one shot behind her teammate, as she carded a 1-under 71 on Saturday in a round that included three birdies. Schofill has a two-day total of 141 (-3), which puts her in a tie for third place on the individual leaderboard. The senior also now leads the team with 10 rounds under par this season.

Junior Anna Foster bounced back from a difficult opening round by posting a 72 in her second round (72). Foster's four birdies during Saturday's round increases her season total to 71, which ties her with Schofill for the most on the team. The Dublin, Ireland native is in a tie for 22nd place on the leaderboard.

After shooting a 3-under 69 on Friday, freshman Katie Cranston fired a 73 on Saturday (+1). Cranston remains in the top five individually, as she is in a tie for fifth place.

Redshirt freshman Casey Weidenfeld struggled on Saturday as she shot a 4-over 76 which did not count towards the team's second round total, but she is still in a good position individually in a tie for 14th.

Auburn will be in the final pairing alongside players from South Carolina and Florida on Sunday beginning at 7:30 a.m. CT. Sunday's final round will be a shotgun start. Live scoring of the round will be available online at Golfstat.com and the GolfStat mobile app.
