AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's DJ Bennett earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors for the first time, as announced by the league on Wednesday. This marks the fourth time an Auburn player has been tapped for the honor, as Kaitlyn Carnicella was been named SEC Freshman of the Week on three occasions earlier this season.

Bennett had a perfect weekend for the Tigers, going 2-0 in singles and 1-0 in doubles. Her dominating two-set victory over LSU's Nina Geissler gave Auburn their first point of the match that was eventually won by the team 4-3. She also recorded her third singles victory over a ranked opponent this season on Sunday, as she took down Jayci Goldsmith of Texas A&M, the 120th ranked singles player in the country,  by a 6-3, 6-2 score.

With the two singles victories, the freshman now has 11 dual singles wins, which is tied for most on the Auburn team, and improved her conference record in singles to 5-2.

Bennett also picked up a doubles victory with Carnicella on Friday, as the freshman duo took down Nina Geissler and Nikita Vishwase of LSU by a 6-1 score.

Bennett will look to continue her impressive play on Friday, when the Tigers battle Kentucky on the road at 11 a.m. CT.
