AUBURN, Ala. – No. 15 Auburn will conclude its regular season at home this weekend with No. 29 South Carolina on Friday at 3 p.m. CT and No. 17 Florida on Sunday at noon CT. The Tigers' match on Sunday against Florida will be the Senior Day match, where Anastasia Astakhova will be honored after the match concludes.
The Tigers will enter Friday afternoon's match after splitting their two road matches over the weekend. Auburn lost to Arkansas 6-1, then bounced back by shutting out Missouri 4-0. Auburn has a 17-6 record and is 7-4 in conference matches, which is tied for the fourth best conference record in the league.
Auburn junior Ariana Arseneault currently holds a 13-8 dual singles record and was featured at No. 46 in Tuesday's ITA individual rankings. In doubles, she and Carolyn Ansari are ranked 24th in the country from the top of the Auburn doubles lineup.
South Carolina currently has a 12-8 overall record and, like Auburn, has a 7-4 record in SEC matches. They have had trouble away from the Carolina Tennis Center, as they are 2-5 on the road this season.
Senior Ayana Akli has had a dominant season as the Gamecocks' No. 1 player. Akli, who is ranked as the ninth singles player in the nation, has a 29-7 overall record this season with a 14-1 record in dual matches and an 8-1 record against dual match opponents. The senior's only loss this season came during South Carolina's most recent match at Tennessee, as Akli fell to No. 38 Elza Tomase 6-4, 6-3.
Sophomore Sarah Hammer has also had an impressive season for the Gamecocks, as she holds a 12-5 dual match record in singles and is ranked 20th in singles by the ITA.
Auburn's Senior Day match opponent, Florida, currently holds a 13-6 overall record with a 7-4 record in conference play. The Gators, who have lost their last two matches, will play Alabama on Friday before taking on the Tigers on Sunday.
Junior Sara Dahlstrom has been playing at the top of the Florida singles lineup most recently and has a 10-5 dual match record this season. Dahlstrom is ranked 37th in singles by the ITA. Senior Carly Briggs, who is right behind her teammate in singles rankings at 38th, has a 9-6 dual match record and has won each of her last four matches.
Friday's match against South Carolina will begin at 3 p.m. CT while Sunday's Senior Day match against Florida is scheduled to begin at noon CT. Live video and live scoring from both matches at Yarbrough Tennis Center will be available online at AuburnTigers.com.
