AUBURN, Ala. – Following a notable performance in the javelin throw at last week's Tom Jones Memorial Invitational, Auburn freshman Keyshawn Strachan was named the SEC Men's Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Strachan continued his winning record, claiming the top spot in the men's javelin with his throw of 76.97m/252-6 in Gainesville. He also posted a mark of 76.96m and bested the field by 20 feet. The Bahamian threw for the second and third best marks in school history behind his school record of 84.27m set two weeks ago at the Texas Relays.
This marks Strachan's second SEC weekly honor in as many meets. He was named Men's SEC Field Athlete of the Week after smashing the school record with his throw in Austin.
