LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior shortstop Cole Foster has been named to the 2023 Brooks Wallace Award watch list, the College Baseball Foundation announced earlier this week.

Foster is one of seven shortstops from the Southeastern Conference named to the initial list, which includes 101 of the most talented shortstops in Division I college baseball. The award will ultimately honor the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year.

Through 34 games played this season, Foster has turned in a .338/.444/.519 slash line with 36 runs, 45 hits, nine doubles, five home runs, 27 RBI, 23 walks and three stolen bases. He ranks second on the team in runs, third in hits and on-base percentage, tied for third in doubles and RBI, and fourth in batting average and home runs.

The Plano, Texas, native has manned the shortstop position in all but three games this season and has turned in a .978 fielding percentage – only committing three errors in 134 chances – and has helped turn 15 double plays.

Rated the No. 12 shortstop in the country by D1 Baseball, Foster registered back-to-back four-hit games on Mar. 8 at Jacksonville State and Mar. 10 vs. Southeastern, becoming the first Auburn player to do so since SEC Player of the Year Hunter Morris in 2010.

Foster and the Tigers (21-15-1, 5-10 SEC) start the second half of SEC play with three games against Mississippi State (22-15, 5-10 SEC) Friday through Sunday at Plainsman Park.
