Three men’s tennis players receive SEC postseason honors

AUBURN, Ala- Auburn's Tyler Stice, Alejandro Moreno and Billy Blaydes each received postseason honors from the Southeastern Conference on Thursday. Tyler Stice picked up his third consecutive first team All-SEC honor while Alejandro Moreno and Billy Blaydes were both named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
 
Auburn senior Tyler Stice holds a 17-15 singles record and a 19-10 doubles record overall this season. Stice has reached a 13-11 singles mark as well as a 13-8 doubles mark in dual matches this season. The Atlanta, Georgia native, who has played at the top of the Auburn singles lineup in every appearance this season, has picked up six singles victories over ranked opponents (five in dual matches).
 
Stice's most notable ranked win was a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 comeback victory over then-No. 3 Toby Samuel that helped Auburn knock off then-No. 4 South Carolina by a 4-3 score. The senior is currently ranked 54th in the nation in singles and was ranked 9th in singles during the fall.
 
In his first season on the Plains, Auburn freshman Alejandro Moreno has a 17-10 singles record and a 19-9 doubles record overall this season. Moreno picked up 11 dual singles wins, including a ranked victory over Joshua Lapadat of Kentucky, the 47th ranked singles player in the nation.
 
After joining the Tigers in January, freshman Billy Blaydes has posted a 13-7 singles dual match record including an 8-3 singles dual match record against Southeastern Conference opponents this season. Blaydes and partner Jan Galka regularly play No. 2 on the Auburn doubles lineup and have posted a team-best 13-8 record and have gone 5-4 against conference opponents.
 
Blaydes was named SEC Freshman of the Week on March 29th after capturing the clinching point to help Auburn upset then-No. 4 South Carolina.
 
The NCAA will announce the 64-team field for the 2023 Men's Tennis Championship on Monday, May 1st. The selection show will be streamed online at 5:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
