DALLAS – Sophomore right hander Will Cannon has been named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award midseason watch list, the publication announced this week.

Cannon is Auburn's second straight representative on the midseason watch list after Blake Burkhalter was on it last year and went on to be named a finalist. He is one of eight Southeastern Conference relievers on the list, the most of any conference.

The Phenix City, Alabama, native leads the team and ranks tied for third in the SEC with four saves. He has posted a 2-1 record and ranks second on the team with a 4.64 ERA with 31 strikeouts in 33.0 innings pitched.

A product of Northwest Florida State College in his first season with the Tigers, Cannon recorded saves in three of his first five appearances and earned his first win in an Auburn uniform vs. Lipscomb on Mar. 4.

Boasting the second-best ERA on the team in league play, he pitched a season high 4.2 innings with four strikeouts in his SEC debut at No. 3 Arkansas on Mar. 19, earned his first SEC win in an extra-inning affair vs. Georgia on Mar. 23, and notched his first SEC save in the series-opening win vs. Mississippi State on Apr. 21.

Cannon and the Tigers (23-17-1, 7-11 SEC) continue conference play with a three-game series at No. 2 South Carolina (34-6, 13-4 SEC) Friday through Sunday.
