AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn's Carys Worby has been honored as SEC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. Worby becomes the third Tiger to earn the honor this season, joining teammates Casey Weidenfeld and Katie Cranston.
The redshirt freshman picked up the honor after recording a runner-up finish, the best of her collegiate career, at the Pinetree Women's Collegiate on Tuesday. Worby fired a bogey-free 69 (-3) in her second round on Monday, which was a new career-low 18-hole score.
The Penbrokeshire, Wales native did not have a round over par during the three-round event and carded a 54-hole score of 211 (-5), which also marked a new career low.
Up next on the Tigers' schedule is the 2023 SEC Championship, which will take place Wednesday though Sunday at Greystone Golf and Country Club's Legacy Course in Birmingham, Alabama.
