LUBBOCK, Texas – Junior shortstop Cole Foster has been named both a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist and the Shortstop of the Week, the College Baseball Foundation announced Tuesday.

Foster is one of 25 semifinalists for the award that recognizes the nation's top shortstop, including seven from the Southeastern Conference. Ryan Bliss was previously named a semifinalist for the award in 2021.

The Shortstop of the Week recognition is the second of the season for Foster, who hit .600 (9-for-15) with seven runs, one double, three homers and six RBI in Auburn's sweep at Ole Miss. His three home runs tied for the league lead, and he ranked tied for second in hits, runs and total bases (19).

The Plano, Texas native matched a season-high with four hits and four RBI and turned in his first multi-homer game of the season in the series opener against the Rebels. He followed it up with a 2-for-5 performance in the series-clinching win before going 3-for-5 with another home run and two more RBI in the finale.

In 47 games this season, Foster has turned in career-best numbers in nearly every offensive category including average (.337), runs (50), hits (64), doubles (12), home runs (10), on-base percentage (.430) and stolen bases (five). His 41 RBI are six shy of last year's total. In the field, he has turned in a .978 fielding percentage, committing only four errors in 181 chances.

Foster was recently tabbed the No. 16 shortstop in the country in D1 Baseball's latest position power rankings.

He and the No. 19 Tigers (30-19-1, 14-13 SEC) wrap up the regular season with a three-game series vs. Missouri (30-20, 10-17 SEC) Thursday-Saturday at Plainsman Park.
