SAN ANTONIO, Texas – No. 7 women's golf is set to begin its quest for the 2023 NCAA National Championship this week at the NCAA San Antonio Regional at TPC San Antonio. The top five teams and top individual (not on a top five team) of the 54-hole tournament, which will be played Monday through Wednesday, will advance to the championship finals at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

"We are going to approach this like any other tournament," said Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen. "We'll have a short meeting about our goal, which is to give ourselves an opportunity to win the tournament. Obviously they take five teams, but we're looking at it like any other stroke play tournament that we play."

This week's event will mark Auburn's sixth consecutive NCAA regional appearance and the 28th appearance in program history. The Tigers successfully advanced to the championship through each of the last four regionals.

The Tigers' team scoring average this season is 288.63, which is currently the lowest team scoring average in Auburn history. Auburn has a head-to-head record of 85-27 and has finished in the top five in every event played during the spring season.

Senior Megan Schofill will be in the Auburn lineup for her third NCAA regional appearance of her career and Monday's opening round will mark her 100th career round played for the Tigers. Schofill was also recently named the Auburn University female student-athlete of the year for 2022 at the annual AUSPY Awards on April 24th.

The Monticello, Florida native leads the team this season in both rounds under par (12) and season scoring average (71.42). She also is coming off a runner-up finish in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championship and three straight top-15 individual finishes.

Auburn will be joined in the regional field with No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 18 Pepperdine, No. 22 Oklahoma State, SMU, UCLA, New Mexico, Denver, Illinois, Sam Houston State, Louisiana-Monroe and Missouri State.

The Tigers will begin the first round at 8 a.m. CT on Monday morning alongside players from Texas A&M and Pepperdine. Live scoring of the tournament will be available online at Golfstat.com and the Golfstat mobile app.
