AUBURN, Ala. – Former Auburn defensive lineman Davonte Lambert was named to the All-XFL Team on Monday following a standout season with the Arlington Renegades. The team was chosen by the league's head coaches and directors of player personnel.
Lambert, a junior college transfer, played two seasons at Auburn in 2014 and 2015 and started 17 games. He tallied 48 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks.
After going undrafted in 2016, Lambert signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers where he played in 11 games, including five starts, as a rookie. Cut prior to the 2018 season, he made his XFL debut in 2020 with the St. Louis Battlehawks before the league canceled the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. He joined Arlington for the reboot in 2023.
This season, Lambert has anchored the defensive line for a Renegades team that will play in the XFL Championship Game on Saturday. The team also features fellow Auburn alum Sal Cannella, Javaris Davis and Mike Horton. Cannella is the team's leading receiver with 42 receptions for 415 yards while Horton has started every game on the offensive line.
The Renegades will face the D.C. Defenders in the championship. The Defenders also have a former Auburn player on the roster with defensive lineman Gabe Wright.
The title game will kick off at 7 p.m. CT on Saturday from the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and will be televised on ABC.
