AUBURN, Ala.— The Auburn track and field program will have 10 athletes competing at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, June 7-10, at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas campus in Austin, Texas.

Auburn will have seven men competing in six events to kick start the competition on Wednesday, starting at 2:30 p.m. CT with Erik Ebel, Kyle Brown and Kyle Moison in the men's hammer throw. It marks just the fifth time in program history that the Tigers will have three competitors in one event in the same year at NCAAs.

"On the men's side, Favour Ashe is the headliner, and we are really hoping that our three headed hammer crew can score some points as well," Tigers first-year head coach Leroy Burell said. "I am also really excited about Sanaa Barnes and Madi Malone. They are really holding down the fort for the women and we would like to see them get on the podium and score some big points."

Making his second NCAA Outdoor appearance, Brown earned all-America honors after finishing 19th in the men's hammer throw a year ago. Ebel and Moison meanwhile will be competing in the first outdoor national championship of their careers.

Also competing on the first day of competition are sprinters Favour Ashe (100m) and Moitalel Mpoke (400m hurdles). Ashe clocked 10.08 at the championships a year ago while a freshman at Tennessee to become the national runner-up to Florida's Joseph Fahnbulleh. A Texas A&M transfer, Mpoke will look to better his finish from the NCAA meet a year ago crossing in 51.58 which was good for 17th.

In the men's high jump, senior All-American Dontavious Hill will be in hot pursuit of another spot on the podium. Hill took home the bronze medal at the 2022 Outdoor Championships clearing 2.21m/7-3. The Mobile, Alabama native has a personal-best 2.24m/7-4.25 set earlier this season.

Junior John Murray will make his NCAA Championships debut in the decathlon beginning with the 100m dash at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Murray set new personal-bests in the 100m, shot put, and 1500m in route to a personal-best overall score 7760 points at the 2023 Outdoor SEC Championships a month ago.

Kick starting the competition on the women's side will be senior All-American, Madi Malone. Malone will make her fourth outdoor NCAA appearance after finishing eighth a year ago with a throw of 69.22m/227-1. The Wichita, Kansas native enters the competition with a season-best 68.79m/225-8, good for fifth in the country.

Senior Maura Huwalt will make her second appearance in as many years at the championships, this time in the women's javelin. Huwalt earned honorable mention All-American status in the discus throw with a mark of 50.10m/164-4. Huwalt enters the javelin competition with a personal-best 52.99m/173.10.

After finishing fourth a year ago, All-American Sanaa Barnes will make her fourth Outdoor NCAA Championships appearance in her home state of Texas. The Villanova transfer enters the competition with a season-best 1.83m/6-0 set at the 2023 Penn Relays.
