Auburn Being Auburn: Memorable MomentsAuburn Being Auburn: Memorable Moments

Punt Bama Punt. Bo Over the Top. Prayer in Jordan-Hare. Kick Six.

There are moments in Auburn football history that fans will remember forever. They know exactly where they were when Bo Jackson jumped over the pile to beat Alabama in 1982. They know exactly where they were when Chris Davis caught the field goal attempt and took off running the other way or when Nick Marshall threw up a prayer on fourth down.

Those moments … that is Auburn Being Auburn

What's the next moment going to be? Where will you be? Maybe it will be this season. Maybe it will be at Kickoff on The Plains on Sept. 2. Don't miss out. Single-game tickets are still available.

There goes Davis! Davis is going to run it all the way back! Auburn is going to win the football game! Auburn is going to win the football game! He ran the missed field goal back! He ran it back 109 yards! They're not going to keep them off the field tonight! Holy Cow! Oh my God! Auburn wins!

Ten years later, that call from Rod Bramblett still brings chills to Auburn fans.

How do you forget a moment like that? The referees put an extra second back on the clock to give Alabama one last chance to try a long field goal. Gus Malzahn called timeout and decided to stick Chris Davis under the goal post to return the kick if it came up short. There was no way he could actually run it back, though, right? Wrong.

Davis caught it, took off toward the Auburn sideline, and once he crossed midfield, there was nobody catching him. He was gone. The Kick Six was born.

From the magnitude of the game – a spot in the SEC Championship and ultimately the national championship was on the line – to how it transpired with both teams trading blows for 60 minutes to the sheer insanity of how it ended, it's the most iconic moment or play in college football history. And it might never be topped.

But Auburn has a history of giving its fans those big moments.

Two weeks earlier, it was the Prayer at Jordan-Hare. The Kick Six might not have ever happened if Ricardo Louis doesn't catch a 73-yard touchdown pass on fourth down that was deflected by two Georgia defenders before landing in his arms.

In 2010, it was Cam Newton's touchdown run against LSU. His Heisman moment. Later that season it was Newton's touchdown pass to Philip Lutzenkirchen in Tuscaloosa, capping the largest comeback win for Auburn in Iron Bowl history and keeping the undefeated season alive.

In 1982, it was a freshman running back leaping over the line of scrimmage to convert on fourth down and score the go-ahead touchdown against Alabama. Auburn snapped a nine-game losing streak to Alabama, and the legend of Bo Jackson took off.

In 1972, it was two blocked punts in the final minutes, both returned for touchdowns, propelling Auburn to yet another memorable win over in-state rival Alabama. Punt, Bama, Punt.

"It was a miracle that was not supposed to happen," former Auburn athletics director and sports information director David Housel said. "Kind of like the Kick Six, it wasn't supposed to happen, but it did. In this case you had two unbelievable back-to-back punts blocked for touchdowns. An ending for the ages."

Auburn will always be a special place because of the tradition and because of the passion of the fans and the family connection. But Auburn is also a special place because of the moments.
