AUBURN, Ala. – Patrick Callan, an Olympian and All-American who swam at both Michigan and Cal, has been named assistant coach for the Auburn Swimming and Diving program head coach Ryan Wochomurka announced Friday.

"I'm very excited to join the Auburn Swimming and Diving family," said Callan. "It's an unbelievable opportunity to be a part of the program that coach Wochomurka is building, and I'm grateful to be a part of his vision for Auburn. I'm looking forward to using my experience to help make this program better. War Eagle!"

Callan arrives on the Plains after completing his illustrious career at Cal. Prior to his stop in Berkeley, the Oklahoma native swam at Michigan.

A staple on the international stage, Callan has represented the United States since his junior career. Twice, Callan qualified for the Olympic Trials, making the United States roster for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. He, along with Drew Kibler, Andrew Seliskar and Blake Pieroni secured finals qualification in the 4x200 free relay as USA would go on to finish fourth.

"I'm excited to welcome Patrick to the Auburn Family," Wochomurka said. "I know he is eager to share his experience in competing at the highest levels both at NCAAs and Internationally with our program.

"He's had a great opportunity to learn from some of the greatest minds in our sport at Michigan and Cal. He was a workhorse as an athlete and I look forward to him bringing that discipline, dedication and tireless work ethic to the other side of the pool deck."

In four years in Ann Arbor, Callan was nothing short of phenomenal for the Wolverines. The Bishop Kelley High School product owns nine All-America honors, was part of back-to-back 800 free relay wins at Big Ten's, was named All-Big Ten three times in his career, was named a CSCAA Scholar All-American in 2020, earned the Michigan Athletic Academic Achievement Award twice and was twice honored as an Academic All-Big Ten selection.
