AUBURN Ala. — Auburn soccer will continue its weekend at home, hosting American University Sunday, Sept. 3 at 2 p.m. CT as a part of Youth Soccer Day at the Auburn Soccer Complex. The match will be available to stream on SECN+.

"This game is just as important as any other we'll play this year," head coach Karen Hoppa said. "American is going to be hungry to show up and score some goals, so we've got to be focused and ready. Last match exposed where we need to improve upon both defensively and offensively, so that's what I'm looking to see out of our team. If we can make those key adjustments, it'll be a fun match."

Sunday's game will signify the first meeting between the two programs in history.

The Tigers (3-1-1) look to rebound from their first loss of the season after falling 2-0 to Wake Forest Thursday. Under Hoppa, Auburn is 16-7-1, all-time, in the next match following its first loss of the season.

Against the Demon Deacons, the Tigers ripped 13 shots off, however, they were only able to place three on-frame and were only able to create four corner kicks, both of which were season lows.

Under head coach Marsha Harper, American is 0-2-2 this season. The Eagles have recorded clean sheets in two of four matches but have been shut out themselves in all four. They opened the year with a scoreless tie versus Maryland before falling 5-0 at Duquesne and 1-0 at Penn. Last Tuesday, American drew Longwood 0-0.

As a part of Youth Soccer Day, members of Aubie's Kids Club can participate in the pregame Tiger Walk and cheer on the team as they take the field for warmups. The first 150 children at the match will also receive an Auburn piggy bank.

Calling the game will be Brit Bowen and JJ Jackson. Additional radio coverage can be found at WEGL 91.1.

Following the matchup with American, Auburn hits the road for a trio of tests at West Virginia, Ohio State and Mississippi State before returning to the Auburn Soccer Complex for its SEC home opener versus Missouri Thursday, Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m. CT.
