AUBURN, Ala. – It's Alumni Week for the Auburn equestrian team as the Tigers will be welcoming alums from all over the country back to the Plains this weekend.
'Going Pro' will feature alums throughout this week as well as throughout the school year, showcasing many past Tigers now finding success away from Auburn.
Up first is Caitlin Creel! The 2018 graduate received numerous academic awards during her career, including NCEA All-Academic First Team recognition as a senior. She was a consistent starter in Flat during her final season on the Plains and helped the Tigers win NCEA championships in 2016 and 2018.

What are you currently doing?
"I work on the digital team at Edelman Smithfield, providing digital communications strategy and counsel to our financial services clients."
Why did you choose this career path?
"At the start of my career, I unexpectedly fell into the world of digital communications and discovered how much I loved the genuine connections you can build with brands online. Since then, I've worked with some awesome companies and individuals, helping them share their stories and make an impact within their online communities. Regardless of where my career journey takes me, I hope to always keep an element of community engagement in the mix!"
How did Auburn prepare you to be successful away from the Plains?
"There are countless ways Auburn prepared me for the 'real world.' But one lesson stands out, captured perfectly by the famous words of Coach Williams: 'Plant a seed for a tree you're never going to shade under.' This sentiment guides me daily. When I face challenges or feel a bit isolated, it reminds me that my contributions and commitment can positively impact others, even if I don't see the result right away. Coach Williams is among the most inspiring leaders I've had the privilege to learn from, and I'm incredibly grateful for his example that continues to guide me as I navigate life post-Auburn."
Are you still riding competitively and if so, what is your horse(s) name?
"Yes! When I get a moment to step away from work, I have the best 'weekend warrior' partners in HH Malle Babbe (aka Molly) and HH Motown (aka Moe), who make the back-and-forth fun and easy!"
Where is your favorite place to compete?
"I unfortunately have not made the trip in years, but hands down, my favorite place to compete is Spruce Meadows! There is so much history and fantastic sport that have taken place there. It's never short of inspiring getting to watch and compete against so many of the world's best equestrian athletes!"
What does the Auburn Family mean to you?
"Not to be cheesy, but genuinely, it means everything to me. I don't know where I'd be without my Auburn family, always there with unwavering support, endless laughter, and memories that will last a lifetime. I am incredibly proud to be part of this community and eternally grateful for all the fantastic friendships that came from my time on the team."
Favorite moment or memory from your time on the team?
"Big wins like the SECs in 2016 and the National Championships in 2016 and 2018 certainly stand out. But, believe it or not, some of my favorite memories come from our annual 'SEC Boot Camp.' While most were off enjoying spring break, we were at the unit, working hard and having a blast. Winning rings was a cherry on top, but even without the titles, those moments are what I cherish most. It was just us being us—no school distractions, just hours at the barn with the horses and hyping each other up for the busy post-season. If I could relive one more camp, I'd jump at the chance!"
Advice to current and future Auburn riders?
"Don't take anything for granted and remember that you get what you give. If you go all out for Auburn, Auburn will return that tenfold, especially everyone around the equestrian team. War Damn Eagle forever!"
