BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  After bursting onto the collegiate scene with a jaw-dropping 17-under showing at the Mirabel Maui Jim Intercollegiate, Auburn freshman Jackson Koivun was named Southeastern Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.

Koivun is the first freshman in program history to win SEC Golfer of the Week. He shares the award with Hunter Logan of Mississippi State.

Last week at the Maui Jim, Koivun shot 65-66-65 with 17 birdies and an eagle to tally a 17-under 196. The rookie from Chapel Hill, North Carolina led the Auburn lineup to back-to-back team titles at the tournament along with setting a new school record for team 54-hole score at 56-under 796.

Koivun's -17 also matched the program's individual record for 54-hole score, set by teammate J.M. Butler at the 2021 Maui Jim Intercollegiate.

No. 6 Auburn returns to action Monday, Sept. 25 – Wednesday, Sept. 27 at the SEC Fall Preview hosted by the Country Club of Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama. The event is free and open to the public.
