PRATTVILLE, Ala. – Auburn women's golf alumnus Cydney Clanton claimed her third career Epson Tour victory on Sunday evening, winning the 2023 Guardian Championship.
Clanton picked up the title after firing a 17-under 199 over three days to win just one week after posting a top-15 finish at the LPGA Tour's Kroger Queen City Championship.
"I had a great week last week on the LPGA Tour, and that just kind of sent the confidence in the right direction," Clanton said after the victory. "I was able to just come and execute this week, getting off to a really hot start by shooting a 9-under round, which is my career low. After that, I just kept it going throughout the week and am happy with how I played."
The Concord, North Carolina, native's bogey-free opening round of 63 (-9) led her to the wire-to-wire victory. Clanton totaled 21 birdies over the weekend including back-to-back birdies to conclude the final round and secure the two-stroke win over Miranda Wang.

Clanton, who also claimed Epson Tour victories at the 2013 Four Winds Invitational and the 2019 Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout, became Auburn's first ever LPGA Tour winner after taking the title at the 2019 Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational alongside partner Jasmine Suwannapura.
During her time on the Plains, Clanton earned NGCA All-American honors in 2008 and 2011 and was a three-time First Team All-SEC selection. She is one of just 10 Tigers to hold three collegiate tournament individual titles. Clanton recorded the most career birdies in Auburn history with 394 and has the second lowest career scoring average in program history at 72.98 behind Megan Schofill.
Kaleigh Telfer, who played at Auburn from 2017-2022, also had success at Capitol Hill Golf Club over the weekend, as she finished in a tie for ninth place after shooting a 12-under 204. The finish marked the third top-10 Epson Tour finish of her career.
