CARY, N.C.- Auburn picked up four victories during the first day of singles at the Fall Ranked Spotlight hosted by NC State on Friday. All four Tigers in the event earned a victory, including two ranked wins.

"As a team we had some very high quality moments, and some moments where we played ourselves and our opponents," Auburn head coach Caroline Lilley said at the conclusion of play on Friday. "Every competitive opportunity is a learning experience. Sometimes you learn after finding a way, and sometimes you learn after running out of time. Today will make us better as we progress through this tournament and our fall. Some perspective will allow us to play our style of tennis throughout."

Carolyn Ansari, the 22nd ranked singles player in the country, claimed her first singles match of the 2023-24 season by winning a ranked match 6-2, 6-1 over No. 70 Alana Wolfberg of Tennessee while DJ Bennett also won her first singles match of the fall 7-5, 6-3 over Duke's Ellie Coleman.

After dropping her first round match, 20th ranked Ariana Arseneault bounced back by upsetting Elza Tomase of Tennessee, who is ranked No. 17 in singles nationally, by a 6-4, 6-4 score. Kaitlyn Carnicella also earned a 7-5, 1-6, 11-9 victory over Ohio State's Teah Chavez for her fourth singles win of the season.
