AUBURN, Ala.—A documentary about legendary Auburn football coach Pat Dye, "Mighty: The Life and Legacy of Pat Dye" will air on Alabama Public Television and Georgia Public Broadcasting on Monday. "Mighty" will make its debut on APT on Monday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. CT and air Monday on GPB at 9 p.m. CT.
The 120-minute documentary chronicles the story of Coach Dye's life, his football career as a player and a coach, and his passion for horticulture and the outdoors.
Dye returned the Auburn football program to national prominence in the 1980s, leading the Tigers to four Southeastern Conference Championships in his 12 seasons as head coach. The three-time SEC coach of the year guided Auburn to 10 or more wins on four occasions and finished in the top 10 nationally five times.
The playing surface at Jordan-Hare Stadium was named Pat Dye Field on Nov. 19, 2005, and he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in December 2005. Dye, who played at the University of Georgia from 1957-60 where he was a two-time All-American, also served as Auburn's athletic director. Dye passed away at the age of 80 on June 1, 2020.
"Mighty" will re-air on APT on Sept. 28 at 8 p.m. CT and also be available on the APT website and app beginning Monday.
