It's time to meet the Auburn equestrian freshman class as we bring you Q&As with the newcomers.

We're kicking off this week with Lauren McCaulley! The Jumping Seat rider hails from Saint Charles, Illinois!

Q: Why Auburn?
A: "I chose Auburn not only because of the amazing equestrian team this school has, but also because of the pride and values that the school holds. The Auburn community is like a giant family, and everyone has so much school spirit, and pride in the fact that they get to be a part of and support this community."

What is your major and what do you hope to do with it after college?
"I am currently enrolled in the exploratory major, meaning I am undecided in my course of study. At the moment I am enjoying learning more about all my options and hope to choose a great major soon!"

What is your favorite Auburn tradition so far?
"My favorite Auburn tradition would have to be the flying of the eagle at the beginning of our football games. It is so amazing to watch in person, and you can tell that the crowd loves it!"

What are you most excited about this season?
"I am most excited to be able to support my team at every meet we have, cheering them on and encouraging all of my fellow teammates to do their best."

How are you managing being on the equestrian team and your class load?
"I manage being on the equestrian team and my academics by making a lot of schedules. Laying out what my week is going to look like with practice, classes, and homework always helps me to manage my time. The resources that the school gives us, such as SADC, tutors, and academic counselors are very helpful as well."

What is your favorite thing to do in Auburn?
"My favorite thing to do at Auburn would have to be going to Toomer's Corner. I love looking at all the different shops and having fun with my friends, and of course grabbing a Toomer's lemonade!"

What was your favorite class you took this past semester?
"My favorite class I took this past semester would have to be the philosophy course I took on ethics and health sciences. I have a lot of past experience in philosophy courses from my high school, which initially drew me to this class. Being able to discuss specific topics with my fellow classmates and see everyone's insight was a very enriching experience, and I would definitely recommend the course to others."

What horse is your favorite to ride for Auburn?
"My favorite horse to ride for Auburn would have to be Nonstop. He was actually the first horse I rode at Auburn, and he has been my favorite ever since. He is so much fun to ride, and he has a lot of experience, so he knows exactly what he is doing."

What is your favorite memory with the equestrian team thus far?
"My favorite memory with the Auburn equestrian team thus far would have to be our first meet Against Georgia. Not only was it the first college meet I got to watch in person and be a part of, but we also went up against a really good equestrian team right off the bat at the beginning of the year, and our team's energy and fighting spirit was electric!"

What does 'War Eagle' mean to you?
"To me, 'War Eagle' means being a part of a community and family that has strong values."

What is like having a sister who also was a collegiate level equestrian? Has she given you any good advice?
"It is really helpful having an older sister who had experience riding on a collegiate level equestrian team. Whenever I am feeling stressed, she always gives me great tips on time management and how to work out my schedule with balancing the team and my academics."

Who is your celebrity crush and why?
"I don't really have any celebrity crushes, but I guess I would say Matthew Gray Gubler. I am a huge fan of Criminal Minds and always end up rewatching it whenever I have free time."

Dream Vacation and why?
"My dream vacation would have to be either Italy or Greece. I have always wanted to visit these beautiful countries and definitely wish to someday."
