AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn concluded play in the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Sunday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Alabama. Sophomores Billy Blaydes and Will Nolan each advanced to the singles main draw round of 16 in the event.
Nolan recorded two singles victories on Saturday over Rafael De Alba of Tulane and Dusan Milanovic of Mississippi State, who is the 36th ranked singles player in the nation. Nolan's win over Milanovic marks his first ranked singles win of the season.
Blaydes earned a spot in the top 16 after defeating Troy's Carles Anton in two sets on Saturday. Blaydes then dropped a close match to Alabama's No. 47 Filip Planinsek 7-6 (5), 1-6, 6-1 on Sunday.
Raul Dobai picked up one singles victory in the main draw during the event on Saturday, defeating Samuel Kyjaci of Louisiana 7-6 (4), 6-1. After suffering a loss in the singles main draw, Alajandro Moreno bounced back with a dominating 6-1, 6-3 win over Isac Stromberg of Ole Miss in a Sunday consolation match.
Auburn will compete in its final tournament of the fall schedule November 3-5 at the ITA National Fall Championships in San Diego, California.
