AUBURN, Ala. – Another school year means another season of Auburn gymnastics and as we get ready to kick off the 2023 season in January, it is time to get to know the 10 newcomers. Third is sophomore Madelynn Crow!
 
Hometown: Williamson, GA
Club: Georgia Elite
Prior to Auburn: ​​Competed her freshman season at Georgia… USAG Level 10 Development Program National Championship qualifier … Region 8 beam champion … GHSAH all-around, bars and floor state champion … First female to win state for gymnastics at her high school, scoring a 10.0 on floor at the state championship.
 
Q: Why Auburn?
A: "Because when searching for a new school to call home as soon as I stepped out of my car and was greeted by the coaches, Auburn felt different than any place I had been or come from. This place was filled with such amazing people and far exceeded anything I was expecting. I felt wanted and welcomed and the coaches and team made me feel valued and loved which was exactly what I was searching for in my new school and team."
 
Q: What's your major and why did you choose it?
A: "My major is marine biology, and I chose it because I have always had such a love for the ocean and the animals that inhabit it."
 
Q: What do you hope to do once you are done with school?
A: "I hope to move out to the coast somewhere and find a job where I can continue to study the ocean and marine life."
 
Q: What's your favorite thing about your hometown and what makes it unique?
A: "My favorite thing about my hometown is how small it is, everyone knows everyone and it makes it a special place."
 
Q: What does a typical day in your life at Auburn look like?
A: "A day in my life begins around 7 a.m. when I wake up and take my sweet bernedoodle puppy, Finley, out for his morning walk and breakfast. Then I get ready and head to Wellness to get breakfast. I normally have two or three classes after breakfast. Then after class, I head home to let Finley out before going to the locker room to get dressed and head to practice. After practice, I go to Wellness for dinner then I head home to take Finley for our evening walk where we normally walk around my apartment complex which is about a mile. I then head inside for the night, feed Finley, shower, do some homework, then get to bed."
 
Q: What's your favorite event and why?
A: "Beam has always been my favorite event ever since I started gymnastics 13 years ago. I love the combination of artistry and difficulty beam requires. I've always felt like the feeling after hitting a great beam routine is unbeatable and incomparable to other events."
 
Q: What are you most looking forward to here at Auburn?
A: "I'm most looking forward to competition season with my team. This team has so much talent and I'm super excited to see where this year and season takes us."
 
Q: How did you get involved in gymnastics?
A: "I was constantly flipping around the house and school, driving my parents and teachers crazy. One of my best friends growing up was doing gymnastics, so my parents decided to let me go and try a class."
 
Q: What is your pre-meet ritual?
A: "My pre-meet ritual is something from Chick-fil-A. It doesn't matter what it is. Also, listening to 'Something in the Water' by Carrie Underwood."
 
Q: What is the coolest thing you've done in the past year?
A: "The coolest thing I've done this year was going to St. Simons for the week with my best friends as one last get together before we all went our separate ways back to college."
 
Q: What is your go-to karaoke song?
A: "Go to karaoke song is probably anything by Morgan Wallen or SZA."
 
Q: What fashion trend do you hope never comes back?
A: "Low rise jeans."
 
Q: With being a transfer, what are you most excited about coming to Auburn?
A: "Being a transfer, I was most excited just to be a part of a team and program that valued me as a person. I am also so excited for this new season and competing with my new team this year."
