AUBURN, Ala. – The last two home games in Jordan-Hare Stadium, the fans did not disappoint. They showed up and played a major role in helping Auburn go toe-to-toe with No. 1 Georgia and No. 12 Ole Miss. That support has not gotten lost on first-year head coach Hugh Freeze who thanked the fans Monday in his weekly press conference.
"I felt like we had a chance at two of those at home," Freeze said. "I think it speaks volumes for how our kids are playing, and I know it speaks volumes for our incredible fans at Jordan-Hare. I just continue to be amazed. It's a great home environment.
"I know that they've endured disappointing years and certainly are in the growing pains with us right now, but their energy and their support – I just can't say enough about that for them. They sense what I sense, and that is that ... man, we are Auburn. We should take a backseat to no one in recruiting. That's the approach we're taking. While there are some certain bumps in the roads – and people make of those what they will – the time is coming when people will sense what Auburn truly is, like our fans already do. I'm just thankful for them."
The Tigers are back in Jordan-Hare Stadium again this week to face Mississippi State.
