CARY, N.C. - Auburn women's tennis concluded play on Friday at both the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, and the ITA Southern Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Auburn's Carolyn Ansari earned an impressive ranked victory in Cary while Kaitlyn Carnicella recorded a shutout win in the first round of the singles main draw in Baton Rouge.

In the ITA All-Americans singles main draw consolation quarterfinals, 22nd ranked Carolyn Ansari upset No. 16 Irina Cantos Siemers of Ohio State 6-4, 1-6, 6-2. The win marks the sixth time that Ansari has earned a singles victory over a top-20 ranked opponent in her career.
After becoming the first Auburn doubles team to reach the main draw quarterfinals in the event since 2014, Selin Ovunc and DJ Bennett dropped a close match to Oklahoma's Dana Guzman and Alina Shcherbinina in a tiebreaker. Ovunc and Bennett fought back after losing the first set to win the second set, but fell 10-7 in a close tiebreaker.
At the ITA Southern Regional Championships, sophomore Kaitlyn Carnicella began her run in the singles main draw with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 shutout victory over Carla Urchoeguia of Louisiana.
On Saturday, Ansari will face No. 23 Savannah Broadus of Pepperdine in the singles main draw consolation semifinal round at 10 a.m. CT in Cary. Kaitlyn Carnicella will begin her second round of the singles main draw at Southern Regionals in the morning and will team up with freshman Ava Esposito Cogan in the doubles main draw of the event Saturday afternoon in Baton Rouge.
