Auburn women host Columbus State for second exhibition

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn women's basketball will get its second and final tune-up for the 2023-24 season Thursday night when the Tigers host Columbus State for an exhibition contest at Neville Arena.
 
Game time is 7 p.m. CT, and admission is free. All seating in Neville Arena will be general admission.
 
Tiger fans got their first look at their squad Monday night when Auburn defeated West Georgia 77-49 in an exhibition tilt. Senior Taylen Collins led four Tigers in double figures, and all 14 available players saw playing time in the contest with 10 of them playing at least 10 minutes.
 
The regular season begins next Monday, Nov. 6, when the Tigers host Jacksonville State for Tipoff on the Plains.

››          Taylen Collins led four Tigers in double figures as Auburn unofficially opened the 2023-24 women's basketball season with a 77-49 exhibition win over West Georgia Monday night at Neville Arena.
››          Along with her 15 points, Collins posted five rebounds, two steals and an assist. Another newcomer, junior college transfer Celia Sumbane, was a perfect 7-for-7 from the field for a 14-point night that also included four rebounds and four steals.
››          Honesty Scott-Grayson poured in 13 points, and Sydney Shaw added 10 with a pair of 3-pointers. Kaitlyn Duhon was a force defensively with six rebounds and a team-best six steals, and JaMya Mingo-Young made the most of her first appearance in orange and blue with a team-best eight rebounds.
››          Mar'Shaun Bostic finished with a team-best five assists to go along with eight points. Freshman Yakiya Milton had a pair of blocks in her Tiger debut.

AUBURN-COLUMBUS STATE SERIES
››          Despite being separated by just a little over 40 miles, this is the first meeting between Auburn and Columbus State in women's basketball.
 
SCOUTING COLUMBUS STATE
››          Columbus State finished 15-12 overall last year, 9-10 in Peach Belt Conference play.
››          Last season, the Cougars averaged 72.2 points per game while allowing 69.7.
››          CSU was picked to finish second in the Peach Belt for 2023-24. Senior Olonna Rawls was a preseason all-PBC selection; she averaged 13.3 points and 6.8 rebounds to rank in the conference top 10 in both categories.
