BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 2 Auburn equestrian team came up short on the road, falling at No. 4 Texas A&M, 11-9, Friday afternoon in Bryan-College Station.
"Give credit to Texas A&M because they rode well today," head coach Jessica Braswell said. "I was proud of how we pushed for ever point until the last ride. We just made too many mistakes today against a good team where every point matters. We look forward to an opportunity to respond tomorrow."
The Tigers and the Aggies rode to a 5-5 tie to start the meet following Horsemanship and Fences.
The Horsemanship squad went 3-2 vs. the Aggies, starting with a win from sophomore Caroline Fredenburg, 71.25-67.75. Sophomore Alexia Tordoff put together a 73.25-68.5 victory before senior Madison Parduhn edged Ella Petak, 76.5-76.25.
Fences got two points from junior Sophee Steckbeck and freshman Avery Glynn. Steckbeck opened the event with an 87.5-79 victory, while Glynn capped it off with an 84.5-79 win.
Glynn and fellow freshman Alex Ryden picked up the team's two points in Flat. Glynn bested her opponent by seven, 88-81, while Ryden pulled off a huge win, 88.5-88.
Auburn earned two points in Reining from sophomore Caroline Buchanan and senior Isabella Tesmer. Buchanan improved to 5-0-1 on the year with a 66-65 victory. Tesmer moved to a perfect 6-0-0 in the event with a 66.25-60.75 win to close out the meet.
The Tigers close out the fall Saturday, traveling to No. 2 SMU. Auburn and the Mustangs face off at 10 a.m. CT in Dallas.
