AUBURN, Ala. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its final individual rankings of the fall on Wednesday, which featured three Tigers ranked in singles as well as two Auburn duos ranked in doubles.
Senior Carolyn Ansari earned the highest singles ranking of her career on Wednesday, coming in at eighth. After being ranked 22nd in the preseason, Ansari posted a 6-4 singles record during the fall season with all six wins coming against ranked opponents including No. 16 Irina Cantos Siemers and No. 23 Savannah Broadus.
The Greensboro, North Carolina, native's fall was highlighted by three consecutive singles wins to reach the main draw consolation finals at the ITA All-American Championships in October. Ansari becomes the first Auburn player to be ranked within the top-10 in the Caroline Lilley era.
Sophomore DJ Bennett also earned the highest singles ranking of her career at 34th. Bennett, who improved 70 spots from her preseason singles ranking, earned a team-best nine singles victories during the fall including wins over 30th-ranked Abbey Forbes and 46th-ranked Loudmilla Bencheikh.
Selin Ovunc also broke into the singles rankings after posting a singles record of 5-4 and earned a ranking of 122nd in the nation.
Bennett and Ovunc together earned a doubles ranking of 30th in the country after going 5-1 together at the ITA All-American Championships and becoming the first Auburn team since 2014 to reach the quarterfinal round of the event. The Auburn duo defeated the sixth ranked team of Angelica Blake and Alexis Blokhina as well as the 23rd ranked team of Yinglak Jittakoat and Matilde Magrini during their run at All-Americans.
Ansari and Ariana Arseneault were also featured in Wednesday's doubles rankings, coming in at 53rd. The Tiger doubles team defeated No. 46 Annabelle Xu and Melodie Collard during the fall.
