BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –  Another preseason nod for Auburn junior forward/center Johni Broome (Plant City, Fla.) as he earned a spot on the Southeastern Conference men's basketball coaches' preseason All-SEC First Team on Thursday.
 
Broome, who was selected to the preseason All-SEC First Team by a vote of the league's media members, was one of 36 different players, who received votes from the coaches. He is the only returning player in the SEC, who averaged 14.0 points, 8.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks last season.
 
The 2023-24 campaign begins Tuesday, Nov. 7, for the Tigers with a neutral-site, season-opening game versus preseason No. 20-ranked Baylor in Sioux Falls, S.D. Conference play is set to begin January 6. The 2024 SEC Tournament will be March 13-17 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn.
