ATLANTA – The preseason recognition continues for Auburn junior center/forward Johni Broome (Plant City, Fla.) as he was named one of 50 players on the preseason watch list for 2023-24 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Men's Player of the Year.
A consensus preseason All-Southeastern Conference First Team selection by the league's coaches and media, Broome enters the season third among active NCAA Division I players with 46 career double-doubles including 10 last season in his first year on The Plains.
Former Auburn All-American Jabari Smith, currently in his second year playing in the NBA with the Houston Rockets, was the last Tiger player to be selected to the preseason Naismith Award Watch List in 2021-22. He was a semifinalist in balloting that season.
